The Fighting Strategy Of The Five Animals Of Shaolin Kung Fu

The Martial Arts, and this includes Shaolin kung fu, are passed on by oral tradition. They are, at heart, a mythology created to represent a unique universe. They are the science of the times, passed down to us.

Thus, to understand the martial arts, we must ask ourselves what science were the ancients trying to describe. Science is science, however, and I think you will find that the real reasons for the five animals is empirical in nature. Also, you will find that there is a distinct combat reasoning to it all.

The tiger is an aggressive animal, and he is always on the attack. Claws and teeth, he drags down his opponent and tears him apart. Thus, the direction of the Tiger is forward, and all he does is attack.

The Crane is a lighter animal, giving way as he manipulates and uses legs. He does not run, but rather and deflects the attack to set up his kicks. He does not charge, but fights on the edge of a circle, never letting that circle collapse.

The Snake coils and twists and allows the attacker to enter his perimeter. The artful deflections of the crane become full blown enwrappings, trips and locks under the deceptive practices of the snake. Thus, the snake gives way without giving way, allowing the enemy to fall into various tricks and traps he sets up.

There is some argument whether the fifth animal is a monkey or leopard, and I usually choose the monkey. Whichever animal you select as the best representation of Shaolin Kung Fu, the characteristic of the animal is tricky footwork and the ability to acrobat and gyrate out of the fight. Thus, the Monkey (leopard) has the ability to change tactics and reset the whole thing to whatever animal characteristic he is strongest at.

The fifth animal is the dragon, and this is an imaginary animal which represents the best of the previous four animals. The dragon is the embodiment of understanding and employing all animals so that they work together. Run, manipulate, trick or flee, the dragon does them all, smoothly and at the right time.

The five animals of Shaolin Kung Fu represent geometry in space, and a distinct selection of distance of combat. Practice each animal until you have mastered the strength of that animal, then blend them all together. This is the strategy for combat as developed by the Five Animals of Shaolin Kung Fu.

Fascinating Animals of the Amazon

A recent report by WWF revealed that a new species of plant or vertebrate is discovered every three days in the Amazon rainforest. The data comes from information collected over the last ten years and offers the stunning revelation that the Amazon is still a vastly unknown territory where a rich and diverse world of plantlife and animals has yet to be discovered. .

According to the report, an impressive 1,200 new species of vertebrates and plants has been discovered during the last decade, including creatures like new types of anacondas and parrots, showing off just how capable the rainforest is of harbouring a stunningly diverse range of life. On top of this, WWF has noted that this figure doesn’t even include the sheer wealth of invertebrate life that has been discovered, with total figures too numerous to list in the report.

Another thing that the findings have brought to light, however, is the crucial need for society to work harder than ever to conserve this incredible habitat for countless different plant and animal species, both undiscovered and known. What’s more, around thirty million humans call this tropical rainforest home, and at the rate that climate change, deforestation and the sapping of the Earth’s natural resources is going, the negative impact of these combined problems is only going to get worse.

When we think of the animal life of the Amazon, images of exotic, beautiful and fantastic creatures come to mind. Unfortunately, the habitat of these creatures is under threat and, even though it has been proven that there is still so much more to be discovered in this precious rainforest, there isn’t enough being done in order to conserve both the rainforest and its inhabitants.

If we want to ensure that new species continue to be discovered – such as the eye-catching fire and water frog that displays a pattern of flames on its head and a water pattern on its legs – then we must keep doing everything we can to prevent further damage to the delicate ecosystem of the Amazon. If you want to help the Amazon rainforest animals, it’s time to find out just how you can do your part – and encourage others to do so too! If everybody pulls their weight and works together, the impact towards helping save the rainforest could be immense – so see what you can do today!
